Overview
The Kongsberg K-Bridge ECDIS and K-Nav ECDIS
type-specific training course provides officers with the system knowledge
required to use this ECDIS for watch-keeping in accordance with the regulations
of STCW and the ISM Code. The guided tutorial, with a duration of approx. 16
hours, covers the equipment familiarisation requirements of IMO Model Course
1.27 and MCA MIN-503(M) for the functions and controls.
The online type-specific ECDIS training course
will provide you with knowledge of the functionality and effective use of the  Kongsberg ECDIS.
The course covers a period of 2 days (equal to
16 hours) and is conducted in accordance with Regulation I/14 of the IMO STCW
1978 Convention as amended, in recognition of the
provisions in Table A-II/1-3 of the STCW Code
and sections 6.3 & 6.5 of the IMO ISM Code.

The
online type-specific ECDIS training course will provide you with knowledge of
the functionality and effective use of the Kongsberg ECDIS.
Successful completion of e-Learning and online
assessment (separate module) will yield a K-ECDIS
Familiarisation e-Learning diploma. The
Kongsberg e-Learning is in compliance with STCW 1978/2010 Manila as amended,
Section A-II/1, A-II/2, A-II/3 and IMO ISM Code 6.3 and 6.5.
Course Objectives
The objectives of this course are to cover
type-specific familiarisation of ECDIS tailored to the specific needs of the
Navigational Officers. Subject areas covered in the course include an overview
of ECDIS carriage requirements, electronic charts, ECDIS navigational
functions, ship handling with ECDIS, sensor integration, alert management, as
well as the latest changes according to the new IHO and IEC standards. Combined
the content of this course ensures that officers understand the type-specific
navigational functions of ECDIS, and are familiar with the features that are
common to all ECDIS systems before boarding a vessel, which ultimately
translates to safer operations and vessel manoeuvring.
Suitable For
This course is designed for all officers of
the bridge team involved in ensuring the safe navigation of the vessel.
Navigators operating Kongsberg ECDIS today or
are planning to do so in the future

testing (multiple-choice tests after each lesson), eliminating the need for a
