The Simrad E5024 ECDIS system is an IMO type-approved Navigation System

The Simrad E5024 ECDIS system is an IMO type-approved navigation solution designed for SOLAS vessels, including large passenger ships, tankers, and cargo ships subject to the ECDIS Carriage Mandate. The Simrad E5024 ECDIS system includes support for an optional secondary display station, providing complete control of Ethernet-connected Simrad performance modules. These modules include radar, conventional echo sounders, ForwardScan™ sonar, and StructureScan Imaging™, as well as third-party accessories such as FLIR cameras, CCTV, engine sensors, and other digital instrumentation. Simrad® offers high-performance marine electronics, proven to withstand the harshest environments. Any 16-, 19-, or 24-inch Simrad marine monitor can be used for this second station, which operates independently from the E5024 system’s type-approved ECDIS functionality.

Ideal for vessels needing to retrofit ECDIS to meet amended SOLAS requirements, the modular E50xx ECDIS system offers simple installation in both single-station and dual-station (PLECDIS) configurations. The Simrad E5024 ECDIS system includes support for an optional secondary display station, providing complete control of Ethernet-connected Simrad performance modules such as radar, conventional echo sounders, ForwardScan™ sonar, and StructureScan Imaging™, as well as third-party accessories like FLIR cameras, CCTV, engine sensors, and other digital instrumentation. Any 16-, 19-, or 24-inch Simrad marine monitor can be used for this second station, which operates independently from the E5024 system’s type-approved ECDIS functionality.

When used in the supplied configuration with the M5024 pilothouse monitor and type-approved ENCs (Electronic Navigational Charts), the Simrad E5024 ECDIS system is IMO type-approved for use on all SOLAS ships and other vessels required to carry an Electronic Chart Display and Information System under the ECDIS Carriage Mandate. Under SOLAS amendments, all existing large passenger ships, tankers, and cargo ships must fit ECDIS according to a rolling timetable that began in July 2012 and ended in July 2018. All new passenger ships over 500 GT, tankers over 3,000 GT, and cargo ships over 3,000 GT are already required to carry an ECDIS system.

The E5024 integrates the latest advancements in user interface, LCD monitor, and quad-core processor technology into the ECDIS market, offering the highest performance and most cost-effective ECDIS solution available today. The E5024 features a powerful yet user-friendly interface that meets all IMO requirements, providing a comprehensive and intuitive ECDIS system. This version combines a high-definition 24-inch monitor with a quad-core processor, placing menu options to the right of the screen to maximize the usable chart area. The system is controlled using a trackball for ease of use.

User Interface

This innovative UI features a clear and consistent layout with distinct visual indicators for operating modes, making it intuitive and easy to navigate. The interface is designed to enhance user efficiency and reduce the learning curve, ensuring that all essential functions are accessible and straightforward. PLECDIS Connection for Paperless Navigation. The E5000 system supports a PLECDIS (Paperless Electronic Chart Display and Information System) connection, allowing two ECDIS devices to be networked together via a single cable. This setup provides a redundant system, ensuring that both devices have synchronized routes and chart data, enabling seamless navigation without the need for paper charts.

Redundancy: By connecting two ECDIS units, you create a backup system that enhances reliability. If one unit fails, the other can continue functioning, ensuring uninterrupted navigation.

Synchronization: Routes and chart information are automatically synchronized between the connected displays. This means that any planning or modifications made on one device are instantly reflected on the other, allowing for coordinated navigation across different locations on the ship.

Paperless Navigation: With PLECDIS, vessels can operate entirely without paper charts. This not only meets IMO requirements but also reduces the clutter and potential errors associated with manual chart handling.

Enhanced Confidence: The duplication of the charting system onboard provides reassurance to ship owners and captains. They can navigate with confidence, knowing that the system is backed up and reliable, facilitating smooth and efficient operations.

This advanced feature set ensures that the E5000 system meets modern navigational needs while adhering to regulatory standards, offering a robust and efficient solution for paperless navigation.
